Haneef Washington Arrested For Attacking NY Cop: Police
A New York man attacked police officers during a traffic stop and ended up behind bars on assault, drugs, and weapons charges, authorities said Tuesday, April 14.
Haneef Washington, 46, was stopped in Albany for a traffic violation on Thursday, April 9, Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said.
During the stop, Washington “became combative and struck one of our deputies in the head multiple times, causing bruising, swelling, and a laceration,” Apple said.
Washington also possessed 900 small bags of fentanyl for distribution and a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun, the sheriff said.

A 14-year-old New York girl was raped dozens of times at a group home by one of the employees, state police said Tuesday, April 14.
Andres Lima, 39, was charged with 20 counts of second-degree vaginal rape and 15 counts of second-degree oral rape, New York State Police said.
Lima, a Pittsfield, MA, resident, worked at Linderhof Group Home in Valatie, Columbia County, according to authorities. Cops began investigating him in March after receiving reports of Lima sexually abusing the teen girl, who lived at the home.

A New York man admitted he caused a deadly head-on crash after crossing into oncoming traffic in Colonie, authorities said Monday, April 13.
Anthony Peterson, 53, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the death of William Merrihew in the wreck, the Albany County District Attorney’s office said.
Peterson, of Schenectady, was driving on New Karner Road in Colonie around 7 a.m. on Sept. 16, 2025, when he crossed the double yellow line and struck Merrihew’s vehicle head-on, according to investigators.

Purple Gun Bandit: NY Man Pleads Guilty In Gas Station Robbery
A New York man caught on camera using a purple handgun to rob a gas station has pleaded guilty, authorities said Thursday, April 9.
Nicholas Dodge, 31, held up a Sunoco gas station in Brunswick on Dec. 1, 2025, according to the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s office.
Dodge threatened an employee with the weapon, demanded and obtained money from the clerk, then fled on foot, police said. He was located shortly afterward and arrested in a traffic stop.
After pleading guilty to first-degree robbery, Dodge was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of probation, prosecutors said.
