Matthew "Kook" Croskey was struck by a car just after 11:45 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the intersection of Hartford Road and Village Square Drive in New Britain, police said. Speed Cameras Coming To Fairfield School Zones As Police Crack Down On Speeders Fairfield police said they want to change how people drive in school zones.  The department announced it has partnered with Altumint to launch speed cameras at several locations in town as part of a School Zone Speed Safety Program. The cameras go live on May 1.  The cameras will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, police said.  Drivers caught speeding will receive a warning through May 31. Dayne Punter, 32, of Waterbury, was arrested at his home earlier this week and charged with severeal counts of animal cruelty and illegal dumping, Wolcott police said. The case began Jan. 9, when someone found the dog near the entrance of the trail by St. Pius Parish on Woodtick Road in Wolcott.  The dog, later named Winter, was in terrible condition.
