Newark Woman Forced Girl Into Prostitution: Essex County Prosecutor Four women have been arrested and charged with trafficking a 17-year-old girl in Essex County, authorities announced Tuesday, Oct. 14. The girl, reported as a runaway, contacted law enforcement last month seeking help, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens said. Detectives determined the girl had been trafficked and forced to engage in prostitution, Stephens said. Woman Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Route 9 In Marlboro: Prosecutor A 70-year-old Totowa resident was fatally struck by a vehicle on Saturday morning on Route 9 in Monmouth County, Oct. 11, authorities said. At 7:33 a.m., Marlboro Township police responded to Route 9 and County Route 520 after Sherrill Sakas was struck by a Honda CR-V while attempting to cross from the southbound to the northbound side of traffic , Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said. Sakas was pronounced dead at the scene, Santiago said. The crash remains under investigation, Santiago said.
