Norwalk Wrestler 3rd At Eastern Youth Nationals NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk's Jeff Cocchia finished third last weekend at the Eastern Youth Wrestling Nationals in Maryland. Cocchia, a sixth-grader at Roton Middle School who wrestles for the Norwalk Mad Bulls, finished 4-1 in the tournament. He won his first two matches before losing to the West Virginia champion in the semifinals. Danbury Woman Travels Long Road From Ecuador To Attain College Degree DANBURY, Conn. – Danbury’s Jessica Coraizaca fought her parents at every turn when it came time for to leave Ecuador when she was 12 years old. Darien Players Helps AAU Boys Hoops Team Win 2 Tourneys FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The United Sons and Daughters boys basketball team, which included players from Norwalk, Westport, Darien, New Canaan, Greenwich, Wiltonand Fairfield, won two prestigious tournaments over the weekend. Chavkin Fires No-Hitter for Katonah's Harvey School KATONAH, N.Y. -- Harvey School baseball pitcher Mike Chavkin, a senior from Armonk, fired a no-hitter Monday, May 5, for the Cavaliers in a 3-0 win over Masters. Chavkin had a perfect game heading into the seventh inning when he walked the leadoff batter. The next batter hit a ball to deep left center field, but junior John Colangelo tracked it down for the catch. North Salem Huntsman Proves Adaptable With Life, Dogs NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – As the Huntsman for Golden’s Bridge Hounds in North Salem, Ciaran Murphy has proved he is adaptable in his life, and with his pups. Byrnes' Grand Slam Leads Team To Stamford Little League Win STAMFORD, CONN. -- Austin Byrnes hit a grand slam, his first-ever Little League homer, and pitched three no-hit innings with eight strikeouts to lead Boot Camp to a 6-4 win over RMS Construction in the Springdale Majors Division of the Stamford Little League. Westport Students Earn Top Awards At State History Day FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Students from Westport and Weston were among the state's winners in the History Day in Connecticut contest. Students in grades 6-12 worked for months to develop history projects for their Regional Contests.
