Stranded PA Hiker Hospitalized Following Appalachian Trail Rescue A stranded Pennsylvania hiker was taken to a nearby hospital after being rescued on the Appalachian Trail, authorities said. The Delaware Water Gap Fire Department responded to the trail with several rescue squads and state police during the overnight hours on Thursday, July 28, the company said. The departments worked together to conduct a widespread search for the stranded hiker, who was found around 1:30 a.m. and taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
