A 59-year-old Rhode Island man who claims to have robbed more than 100 banks and says he was the inspiration for a Ben Affleck movie character was busted this week while trying to add to his heist tally. William Sequeira of Providence was arrested just after 3:30 on Wednesday, Oct. 5, after he tried to rob the Citizens Bank at 426 Boylston Street, Boston police said. A teenage student was shot outside his Boston high school and another student was arrested in connection with the shooting, authorities said. Police responded to a report of a person shot around in the area of 60 Washington Street around 9:34 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, Boston Police said during a press conference. Judge Lowers $1M Bail For Quincy Man Accused Of Raping Children At Knifepoint: DA
A Suffolk County judge on Thursday lowered the bond for a former State Street vice president accused of raping two women and two children at knifepoint from $1 million to $300,000, authorities said. Ivan Cheung, 42, of Quincy, was arrested earlier this month and charged with the alleged assaults that date back nearly 20 years. A Boston man who authorities say has a history of attacking corrections officers is now accused of beating a female caseworker last week while at the Nashua Street Jail. Ahmad Maiden, 43, faces charges of assault and battery on a correctional facility employee, disturbing a correctional institution, and threats from the alleged attack, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said. Boston Man's Illegible Graffiti Paints More Dangerous Picture
A 22-year-old Boston man caught spray painting "gang" signs at an MBTA station earlier this week should have left his paint at home as it led to his arrest on much more serious charges. Jeremiah Springer of Roxbury was spotted by someone allegedly tagging a wall at Copley Station on Thursday, Sept. 15, a little after 8 p.m., who told a nearby officer, transit police said. New Bed Bath & Beyond Store Closures Include 3 Massachusetts Locations
Struggling home goods retailer Bed Bath & Beyond has announced 56 new store closures that it says will be implemented by the end of the calendar year. The closure list includes three locations in Massachusetts: Worcester County: 230 Fortune Boulevard, Milford Suffolk County: 8B Allstate Road, Dorchester Bristol County: 35 Highland Ave., Seekonk The company is due to report its results for the second quarter later this month. An elderly Suffolk County woman has contracted Massachusetts' first case of the West Nile Virus, state health officials announced on Thursday, Aug. 25. A Boston man is being held without bail for luring an underage girl to Massachusetts for sex, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said. Jimall "Progress Lu" Dawn Brown, age 33, of Dorchester, used social media to bring the teen to Boston from another state and pawn her off to have sex with men.
