Bridgeport Man Awarded $323K In Police Brutality Suit BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man was awarded $323,000 in a lawsuit claiming officers used excessive force when arresting him on charges that were later dropped, according to the Connecticut Post. Anibal Diaz, 31, had filed the lawsuit as a result of an arrest that took place in May 2013, according to the Connecticut Post. According to the lawsuit, police arrived at his home while he was sitting on the front porch with relatives on a report of two men with a gun, the Connecticut Post reported. Daniel To Seek Second Term As Weston First Selectman WESTON, Conn. -- Weston First Selectman Nina Daniel will run for a second term in office this year, according to the Weston Forum. Daniel was endorsed by the Republican Town Committee at its meeting on Wednesday night. The RTC endorsed a full slate of candidates for town offices at the meeting, including Stephan Grozinger for the Board of Selectmen, the Weston Forum reported. Norwalk Man Charged With Armed Robbery After Taking Rent NORWALK , Conn. — A Norwalk man was arrested after taking a man's rent money and then later robbing him at gunpoint, according to the Hour. The complainant told police that on Wednesday when he went to pay the rent for his Monroe Street apartment, 46-year-old Mustafa Muhammad answered the door, according to the Hour. The victim knew Muhammad as "Moose," and although he was not the normal person the victim paid rent to, Muhammad took the money and said he would make sure it got to the right person, according to the Hour. Stamford Man Charged With Robbery, Sexual Assault In Purse Snatching STAMFORD, Conn. -- A woman was robbed and touched inappropriately by a homeless man in Stamford early Wednesday morning, according to the Stamford Advocate. The woman told police that she was opening the restaurant on West Main Street where she works when 29-year-old Ovidio Juarez-Gudiel came up from behind her, the Stamford Advocate reported. He threatened her and took her purse, and also fondled her, police told the Stamford Advocate. Monroe Police Charge Danbury Man With Car Theft After Chase Leads To Crash MONROE, Conn. -- A Danbury man was charged with stealing a car out of Danbury in March and leading Monroe Police on a chase before crashing the car in Newtown, according to the Monroe Courier. Monroe Police told the Monroe Courier that an officer saw 32-year-old Raheim Lewis of Danbury driving erratically on Route 25 in Monroe on March 25. Stamford Firefighters Tackle Fast-Moving Blaze At Apartment Complex STAMFORD, Conn. — A fast-moving fire along the outside of a large apartment complex in Stamford was quickly extinguished by firefighters on Thursday afternoon. Stamford firefighters were initially dispatched to the Anchor Point Apartment Complex at 12:50 p.m. Thursday for a dryer vent on fire. Three Arrested After Stamford Police Find Guns, Codeine In Car STAMFORD, Conn. -- Three people were arrested after police found drugs and unregistered handguns in a car on Woodside Street in Stamford on Wednesday.At around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Officer William Petrone of the Uniform Patrol Division saw an illegally parked car on Woodside Street, and could see one of the occupants dumping tobacco from a cigar onto the road, police said. Detour: Route 7 Closed For Weekend In Ridgefield Starting Friday RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- A section of Route 7 will be closed to thru traffic this weekend due to a bridge replacement project.Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Route 7 will be closed from the intersection of Route 7 and Route 35 to the intersection of Route 7 and Route 102. Investigators Renew Search For Human Remains In Binney Park In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich Police and other investigators are continuing to search for more materials or remains in Binney Park Thursday morning following the discovery of human remains in late April.
