New Fairfield Man Charged With Murdering, Sexually Assaulting Woman, 55 NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A New Fairfield man has been charged with murder and sexual assault in connection with the death of a 55-year-old woman on May 2, police said. Steven M. Flood, 32, of 26 Candlewood Road, was charged with felony murder, murder committed in the course of sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault in a spousal or cohabiting relationship, third-degree larceny and third-degree criminal trespass. Fake Online Phone Salesman Robs Norwalk Man NORWALK, Conn. — A Norwalk man was knocked down and robbed by someone he met to buy a cell phone from on Thursday, according to the Hour. The man had met his assailant over social media, and made arrangements to meet up and buy a cell phone from him, the Hour reported. They met at around 1:48 p.m. on Novak Street in Norwalk, but when the victim got his money out to buy the phone, the seller instead knocked him down, hit him and took his money, police told the Hour. Jury Finds Bridgeport Man Guilty Of Manslaughter In Danbury Shooting DANBURY, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man accused of killing a man outside a Danbury nightclub in 2014 was found not guilty of murder, but was found guilty of manslaughter charges, according to the News Times. Garfield Sanderson had been arrested in connection with the May 3, 2014 killing of Jeliel Kingston of Bridgeport after a fight at the Mambo Cafe on Elm Street in Danbury, police said. Kingston had been found at 2 a.m. lying on the sidewalk, and later died at Danbury Hospital from gunshot wounds to his arms and torso. Sanderson was arrested nine days later. Generator Causes Garage Fire At Westport Home WESTPORT, Conn. -- A generator caught fire and caused extensive damage to a garage on Lookout Lane in Westport on Thursday evening. The Westport Fire Department responded at around 6:20 p.m. on a report of a generator on fire. When they arrived, they found a fire in an attached garage and quickly deployed hose lines to put the fire out before it extended to the living area of the home. Fairfield Cop, Son Of Norwalk Mayor, Charged With Stealing Drugs FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- A Fairfield Police narcotics detective who is also the son of the mayor of Norwalk was arrested on Friday and charged with stealing drugs from cases he was involved in, according to police. Stephen Rilling, 40, was charged with third-degree computer crime, second-degree larceny, second-degree forgery, possession of narcotics, false entry by an officer or agent of a public community, and tampering with evidence. New Canaan Man Convicted Of Ponzi Scheme Ordered To Pay $26.8 Million NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A former New Canaan man convicted of running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded victims out of hundreds of millions of dollars has been ordered to pay nearly $26 million to investors he defrauded. Francisco Illarramendi is currently service a 13-year sentence after pleading guilty in connection with running the scheme from his hedge fund that cost investors millions in losses. Car Drives Into Building On Field Point Road In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. — Firefighters responded after a car drove into a building on Field Point Road in Greenwich on Thursday afternoon.Greenwich firefighters arrived on scene at around 12:30 p.m. after receiving a report of possible entrapment. According to Greenwich Time, the car drove into the store Just Shades and came to a rest in the showroom.
