Low Clearance: Truck Gets Stuck Under Train Overpass In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- When you're renting a truck, it's usually a good idea to double check how tall it is, as a couple folks learned the hard way in Fairfield on Tuesday morning. A rented truck got stuck under the overpass on Center Street in front of the Southport train station just before 11 a.m. Tuesday. Police were on the scene of the lodged truck, directing traffic around the lodged truck and working to get the air out of the tires so it would become unstuck.

Bridgeport Police Officer Charged With Assaulting Driver After Crash BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport police officer was arrested Thursday and charged with assaulting a man following a car crash in September, according to the Connecticut Post. The Connecticut Post reported that on Sept. 19, Officer Davon Polite, 30, was leaving a restaurant on Hurd Avenue when a van crashed into his Mercedes. A witness told police that Polite got out of the Mercedes and got into a confrontation with the driver of the van, which ended with Polite dragging the van driver and beating and kicking him, the Connecticut Post reported. Trumbull's Mia McCaffrey, 6, Fought To Raise Awareness Of Childhood Cancer TRUMBULL, Conn. — A Trumbull girl who helped raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research died last week at the age of 6. Mia Rose McCaffrey died Friday with her mother Marian and father Jim by her side. She also leaves behind her beloved little brother, James. After Mia was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer, she was determined to fight. According to her obituary, she was "as courageous and strong as she was optimistic and beautiful." Danbury Couple's Lost Love Letters Turn Up At Savers DANBURY, Conn. — A Danbury couple who thought their love letters dating back to high school had been lost were surprised when they found out they had turned up at a local thrift store, according to Fox 61. Easton Officials Approve Affordable Housing Development EASTON, Conn. -- Easton Planning and Zoning Commission members voted last week in favor of the town's first affordable housing project, according to the Easton Courier.The Saddle Ridge project will include 20 units of affordable housing, and was approved last week by a unanimous vote, the Easton Courier reported. DNA, Video Links Bridgeport Man To Norwalk Home Burglary NORWALK, Conn. — Video and DNA evidence led Norwalk police charge a Bridgeport man with a residential burglary from late July, according to the Hour. Police told the Hour that a home on Ely Avenue in Norwalk was broken into on July 28, 2016, and cash and jewelry were stolen. Police: Stratford Man Found Slumped Over Wheel Of Car STRATFORD, Conn. -- A Stratford man was arrested in Milford after police found him slumped over the steering wheel of a car at an intersection, according to police.
