Lawmakers Call On Navy To Keep Marine One Work At Stratford's Sikorsky STRATFORD, Conn. -- A group of lawmakers is calling on the Secretary of the Navy to suspend possible plans to shift maintenance of the president's Marine One helicopter fleet from Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford to a facility in Florida. Last week local legislators announced that negotiations between Sikorsky and the U.S. Navy had fallen through, meaning that the repair work would no longer be performed in Connecticut where it has been done for the last four decades. Runners Support Drug-Free Lifestyle At Ian Eaccarino Race In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- Runners and community members came together at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk Sunday to support a healthy lifestyle at the Ian James Eaccarino Memorial 9-Mile Running Race. The race was sponsored by the Lightfoot Running Club, the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department, Booth Financial and the Courage to Speak Foundation. Mayor Harry Rilling kicked off the race, and Don Capone served as Race Director. This year, 130 runners participated in the community race. Passenger Ejected When Car Hits Stone Wall, Two Trees In Darien DARIEN, Conn. -- A car hit a stone wall and two trees on Hanson Road in Darien, causing one passenger to be ejected from the car and two others to be treated for minor injuries Saturday night, police said. The accident took place at around 9:30 p.m. on Hanson Road west of Linda Lane, police said. Elderly Man Found Unresponsive In Darien Pool Dies DARIEN, Conn. -- The elderly man found unresponsive in a Darien pool on Monday has died, Darien police said Wednesday. Officers responded to a Meadowbrook Road home at about 4:30 p.m. Monday after receiving a call about an unresponsive elderly male at the bottom of a pool, according to police. Upon arrival, officers immediately entered the pool and removed the man from 6 feet of water. Norwalk Police Release Photos Of Suspect In Bank Robbery NORWALK, Conn. -- Police are searching for a man who robbed the Webster Bank on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk on Friday morning. Norwalk Police Offer $50,000 Reward In Cold Case Double Murder NORWALK, Conn. -- The state is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murders of Iroquois Alston and Rickita Smalls in Norwalk five years ago. Bridgeport residents Alston and Smalls were shot and killed while sitting in a car on Avenue B in Norwalk on Aug. 6, 2011. Alston was 27 years old and Smalls was 22. Their murders remain unsolved.
