Norwalk's Grand List Grows By $91.7 Million NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk's Grand List of all taxable property for 2014 grew by $91.7 million to $11,916,291,918, according to town officials. The Grand List is a sum of the net assessed value of all taxable property in the city, including real estate, motor vehicles and personal property. It is based on valuations as of Oct. 1, 2014. Norwalk Teen Charged In Attempted Armed Mugging At Train Station NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was arrested Thursday and charged with taking part in an attempted armed robbery at the Rowayton train station. Jahtavius Derry, 18, was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. He was held on $25,000 bond and will appear in court Feb. 20. Norwalk Police Seek Two Who Stole Credit Card From Elderly Woman NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police are seeking the public's help in identifying two people who stole a wallet from an elderly woman. Police said that a woman's wallet was stolen out of her purse at the Walmart on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk on Feb. 7. The victim's credit card was then used to purchase items at the Best Buy in Norwalk and at Target in Trumbull. Video surveillance shows two women who are believed to have perpetrated the crime, police said. Darien Liquor Stores Split On Lowering Drinking Age To 18 DARIEN, Conn. -- A Minnesota lawmaker has proposed lowering the drinking age to 18 and the New York Times recently ran a debate on the decades-old question, but Darien liquor store operators are split on whether it would be an effective step. Citizens Help Norwalk Officer Who Tackled Drug Suspect In Snowbank NORWALK, Conn. -- A 53-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on drug charges Thursday after two resident helped police take him into custody. At about 3:15 p.m. Officer Kyle Lipeika observed two people engaged in drug activity near the intersection of South Main Street and Merritt Street, according to police reports.
