Norwalk's Maritime Aquarium Launches New $2.7M Research Vessel NORWALK, Conn. – Thanks to a $2.7 million investment by the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, visitors will soon be able to explore the wildlife found in Long Island Sound on a new state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly research vessel, the Spirit of the Sound. The 63-foot aluminum catamaran is replacing the aquarium’s old vessel, the R/V Oceanic. The new boat features a back deck about twice the size of the Oceanic’s, and a climate-controlled indoor classroom that can fit about 60 people. Norwalk Launches Initiatives To Improve Business, Zoning NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling announced two initiatives on Tuesday, Oct. 7, intended to increase economic development and modernize and harmonize zoning regulations in the city. Darien Police Seek Suspect In Theft Of Debit Card Used At ATM DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien police are seeking the public's help in identifying a burglary suspect. Police received a report in August that a debit card and other items had been taken from a local business. The debit card was used that day to withdraw several hundred dollars from ATMs at Fairlawn Variety on East Main Street in Stamford and at the Fairfield County Bank on the same street, according to police. Darien Mom Joins Lawmakers In Call For Equestrian Helmet Safety Law DARIEN, Conn. – Kemi O’Donnell joined lawmakers Tuesday in front of the spot at the Ox Ridge Hunt Club in Darien where her daughter was killed in a horseback-riding accident as they renewed their commitment to safety requirements for equestrian headgear.
