Norwalk Man Charged With Sexual Assaulting Woman He Carried Home NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was charged with sexual assault after police said he picked up a woman and carried her back to his apartment in Roodner Court on Saturday. Jonas Labaze, 22, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree unlawful restraint, possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Westport Puts New Shine On Historic Minute Man Monument WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport took another step toward completing the restoration of the town's historic and signature Minute Man Monument on Thursday by laying capstones on the fieldstone wall around the monument. Malloy Announces Plan To Replace Embattled Norwalk Train Bridge NORWALK, Conn. -- Funding and scheduling plans have been put in place to replace the embattled 118-year-old Metro-North Walk Bridge, said state and federal officials gathered near the embattled bridge in Norwalk on Thursday morning. The bridge failed twice in two weeks this year, delaying Metro-North and Amtrak trains along the Northeast corridor and prompting officials to call for its replacement. Norwalk Community College Campus Goes Smoke-Free NORWALK, Conn. -- Non-smokers will be able to breathe a sigh of relief as Norwalk Community College has gone completely smoke-free. Starting Wednesday, the college has instituted a ban on all smoking and tobacco products anywhere on campus. The school becomes only the second campus in the state to ban smoking campuswide, after Quinnipiac University's North Haven campus. Police: Norwalk Teen Posted Harassing Photos Of Teacher On App NORWALK, Conn. -- A 14 year-old Brien McMahon High School student was referred to juvenile authorities after she posted harassing pictures of a teacher on a social media app, Norwalk police said. Malloy Signs New Law Aimed At Reducing Concussions Among Youth Athletes WESTPORT, Conn. -- Gov. Dannel P. Malloy signed a new bill into law at Staples High School in Westport that is designed to reduce the number of concussions in youth athletics. "What we really need to do is make sure we're spending time to get the right diagnosis and the time to make sure that the brain is repairing itself, and that we're not going to interfere with the brain repairing itself and then cause further injury," Malloy said. Man Charged With Stealing Credit Cards In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Waterbury man was arrested Saturday and charged with stealing credit cards out of a woman's purse at the Humane Society in Westport and using them around town, according to police. 18-Year-Old Shot In The Leg On Suncrest Road In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was shot in the leg on Suncrest Road on Saturday night, according to police. Officers arrived on the scene shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday to find an 18-year-old victim who had been shot in the leg, according to police reports.
