New York Kids Head To New Canaan For Summer Of Fresh Air RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- A group of families from around Fairfield County gathered in Ridgefield on Thursday to greet 18 New York City children who will be spending two weeks in Connecticut through the Fresh Air Fund. The Fresh Air Fund is a nonprofit agency that matches New York City children with host families in rural, suburban and small-town communities for summer experiences. The kids get a chance to get out of the city for a couple weeks to play outside and enjoy a summer vacation they might not normally experience. Police: Norwalk Couple Tried To Hide Kids From DCF On Fire Escape NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk couple was arrested Wednesday night after they tried to hide their two toddlers from the Department of Children and Families on a fire escape during a severe rainstorm, police said. The 37-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were each charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor and interfering with an officer. Bond was set at $500 for each, and they will appear in court on July 11. Darien Man Arrested On Drug Charges Tells Officer 'I Hate Cops' DARIEN, Conn. -- A Darien man was arrested Wednesday after drugs were found in his car following a May incident involving two car crashes, police said. John Tyler Keegan, 22, was charged with illegal possession of prescription narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fairfield County Officials Give Fourth Of July Safety Tips NORWALK, Conn. -- Fairfield County public safety officials are asking residents to be safe this Fourth of July weekend. Each year, nationwide there are 10,000 injuries, three deaths and 25,000 fires due to illegal fireworks, according to the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association. Darien Says Welcome Home As Affordable Housing Development Opens DARIEN, Conn. -- After nearly two years of construction, the Heights at Darien celebrated its opening with a ceremony Tuesday afternoon. Naked Darien Teen Tasered After Breaking Into Home DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien officers Tasered a man who ran naked through a Stephen Mather Road home while on hallucinogenic drugs Monday afternoon, police said. Norwalk Man, 63, Arrested Taking Change From Car NORWALK, Conn. -- A 63-year-old Norwalk man was arrested Monday after he was found breaking into a car on Connecticut Avenue, police said. $30 Million HUD Grant To Revitalize Washington Village In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- The Washington Village public housing complex will be revitalized thanks to a $30 million U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant.
