Norwalk Police Arrest Two In Woods After ATM Robbery NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police arrested two men after a late-night search through a wooded area near Route 7 and are searching for a third suspect after a couple reported being robbed at an ATM on Tuesday night, police said. Kevin Banegas-Gomez, 18, and Rolando Garcia-Navarro, 24, of Bridgeport were each charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, second-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit robbery, assault and larceny. Darien Arts Center Celebrates Alan Menken At 'Get Jazzed' Event DARIEN, Conn. -- More than 80 people turned out for a night of jazz honoring the music of Alan Menken at the Darien Arts Center's "Get Jazzed" fundraiser. Guests were entertained by Joel Martin, his "Jazzical" Trio and Emmy Award-winner Liz Callaway at the June 28 event, which was held in the Darien Arts Center's Weatherstone Studio. Norwalk's STAR Purchases 14 New Vans With State Grant NORWALK, Conn. -- A grant from the state has allowed Norwalk's STAR Inc. to purchase 14 minivans to transport individuals with developmental disabilities, the organization announced Tuesday, July 8. STAR received a $342,600 Nonprofit Grant Award, which it used to buy the 2014 Honda Odysseys. "It's a godsend," said Katie Banzhaf, executive director of STAR. "Money is so tight, as we all know. New Canaan May See More Summer Thunderstorms, Meteorologist Says FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- With summer heat and humidity firmly entrenched in the area, residents of Fairfield County could see more brief thunderstorms over the next few days. On Monday night, a brief but severe thunderstorm moved across northern Fairfield County, dropping about two-tenths of an inch of rain in the Danbury area in a few minutes. Driver Almost Hits 2 Darien Officers, Charged With DWI DARIEN, Conn. -- A Stamford man was arrested on drunken driving charges after nearly hitting two Darien police officers Tuesday, July 8, who were directing traffic, police said. Darien Man Charged With DWI After Driving Into Liquor Store DARIEN, Conn. -- A Darien man was charged with drunken driving last week after police said he crashed a car into a vehicle and then a liquor store. John Roney, 53, was charged with driving under the influence and taking a vehicle without permission. He was held on a $500 bond. Robbery Reported In Norwalk Following Fireworks NORWALK, Conn. -- A man reported he was robbed on Beach Road in Norwalk after the Fourth of July fireworks show on Saturday night, according to police. Police: Bridgeport Man Arrested Breaking Into Norwalk Home NORWALK, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man was arrested Friday after police said he broke into a home and got into a fight with the residents. Jonathan Addison, 26, was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal trespassing. He was held on $50,000 bond and went to court Monday.
