Police: Norwalk Jogger Reports Attack By Unknown Man NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk woman reported that she was attacked by someone who jumped out of the bushes Sunday night on Old Saugatuck Road, police said. The 35-year-old woman reported the assault shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, police said. The woman told police she was running on Old Saugatuck Road near the Shorehaven Country Club when a white or Hispanic man jumped out from behind a bush. The man knocked her to the ground and began physically assaulting her, police said. The woman was able to fight him off, and he ran away, police said. Boat Owner Downplays Fight Reported Aboard Island Belle In Norwalk Harbor NORWALK, Conn. -- A fight broke out on the Island Belle early Sunday, according to police, although the owner of the boat called the incident a "non-event." At about 4 a.m. Sunday, officers were parked at the boat launch when they received a report from headquarters that a large fight had broken out on the vessel, police said. State Proposes New Route 1 Bridge At Darien-Stamford Border DARIEN, Conn. -- Commuters and homeowners on the Stamford-Darien border beware: Traffic may get a lot worse when the state begins work to replace a bridge that carries Route 1 over the Noroton River. The 50-foot bridge set for replacement was built in 1913 and rehabilitated in 1956. The bridge carries two lanes of Route 1 traffic in each direction, with an estimated daily usage by 10,600 vehicles, according to the state Department of Transportation. Norwalk Police To Patrol For Drunken Boaters This Weekend NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police will be cracking down on boaters operating under the influence over the next three days as part of Operation Dry Water. The Norwalk Police Department's Marine Unit will be patrolling with multiple vessels from Friday, June 27, through Sunday, June 29. Norwalk Police Arrest Two On Drug Charges In Ryan Park NORWALK, Conn. -- Two men were arrested in Norwalk on Wednesday, June 25, after police said they were found smoking marijuana in Ryan Park. Curtis Johnson, 30, was charged with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, criminal trespassing, criminal impersonation and interfering with an officer. Norwalk Soccer Fans Celebrate As Team USA Advances In World Cup NORWALK, Conn. -- Even though the U.S. did not win its World Cup match against Germany on Thursday, the crowd at O'Neill's in South Norwalk still erupted in cheers at news that Team U.S.A. would be advancing to the next round. Norwalk Couple Attacked By Dog During Argument NORWALK, Conn. -- A domestic dispute between a Norwalk couple took a violent turn as her 180-pound dog jumped into the fray and attacked both of them early Wednesday, police said. Babysitter Charged With DWI After Crashing With Kids In Car NORWALK, Conn. -- A babysitter who got into a car accident with two children she was watching in the vehicle was arrested on charges of driving under the influence in Norwalk, police said. Kirsty Roberts, 36, of Stratford was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, failure to carry an insurance ID card and unsafe backing.
