Darien Unemployment Rises, But Jobs Rise, Too DARIEN, Conn. – Darien’s unemployment rate last month was the highest its been since the beginning of 2010. Still, more Darien residents are working now than at the beginning of the year. All but 650 of Darien’s 9,636-member labor force were working at the end of July, according to the Connecticut Department of Labor. That equals an unemployment rate of 6.7 percent. Town Clerks Honor Norwalk's Cafero As Legislator Of The Year NORWALK, Conn. – State Rep. Larry Cafero, R-Norwalk, was named the Legislator of the Year by the Connecticut Town Clerks Association for his efforts in helping pass a Freedom of Information law in the last legislative session. The law eliminated mandates on town clerks when it comes to disclosing personal information about state and municipal workers. The clerks faced penalties for not redacting personal information about those workers, the clerks said.
