Darien Police Warn Of New Phone Scam DARIEN, Conn. – Darien residents should be on the lookout for a possible phone and Internet scam designed to get information about home computer networks, the Darien Police warn. Two residents were recently contacted by phone from a number listed as 212-438-7895, police said. The caller ID listed the number as “McGraw Hill.” The caller told the residents their computers had been compromised and were spreading a virus throughout the neighborhood. Darien Police Beef Up Communications Technology DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien Police Department is improving its communications systems to better record calls and to ensure backup communications if telephone lines fail. The changes are expected to cost $33,310 total. Most of that money will be spent on a new digital logger at police headquarters. The digital logger records all telephone and emergency radio traffic in the police’s communication center.
