Brookfield Republicans To Host GOP Straw Poll In January BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Brookfield will host the 2016 Connecticut Republican Presidential Straw Poll on Friday, January 15, at 7 p.m. at Golf Quest Family Sports Center, 1 Sand Cut Road. Light refreshments will be served at the event. “We are honored Brookfield has been chosen by GOP State Central to host the straw poll in our area,” Selectman Marty Flynn said in a statement. “I encourage Republicans in Western Connecticut to come join us on the 15th and help support the Connecticut Republicans' federal account by purchasing a ballot.”

Monroe Library Holding Jigsaw Puzzle Contest MONROE, Conn. -- The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 733 Monroe Turnpike, will hold a "Puzzle-Off Party” on Saturday, Jan 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eight teams of up to six members will compete to see who can complete the most of a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle. Lunch will be provided at the event. Individuals or small groups who wish to participate can register at the reference desk by Dec. 23. New Canaan's Grace Farms Offers Assault Prevention Courses For Women NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The Grace Farms Foundation is hosting a course designed to educate women and girls on how to reduce their chances of becoming victims of assault and domestic violence. The class, which includes a self-defense demonstration, will address the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses, and the impact drugs and alcohol have on student behavior. The course will meet twice a week for five weeks for an hour-and-a-half each day.
