Teen Charged With Stealing From Jefferson Valley Mall
YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- An 18-year-old male, whose name is being withheld due to possible youthful offender status, has been charged with petty larceny, a class A misdemeanor, according to Yorktown police.
Officers responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody at Sears in the Jefferson Valley Mall, 600 Lee Blvd., on Friday, Nov.13, officials report.
The teen had allegedly removed items from packaging, concealed them on his person and moved past all points of purchase, exiting the store without paying, police report.

ARMONK, N.Y. -- H.C. Crittenden Middle School in Armonk is hosting a mental health forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The event, which will be held in the cafeteria of the middle school, 10 MacDonald Ave., will focus on the topic of executive functioning, a group of mental health skills used to organize people’s minds, actions and behavior.

Westport 18-Year-Old Charged With Larceny
WESTPORT, Conn. -- An 18-year-old woman from Westport has been arrested for larceny, stemming from an incident that occurred last month, police report.
On Oct. 23, the Westport Police Department received a complaint of a larceny from a Post Road store, according to officials.
The store manager reported one of his employees had completed seven returns, which had a positive balance, and noted the inventory was missing, police report.
An audit of the employee’s transactions was completed, confirming the larceny of reported returns for cash, according to police.

Richard Metcalf, 52, Of Lyndhurst
LYNDHURST, N.J. -- Richard Metcalf of Lyndhurst died Sunday, Nov.15. He was 52.
Metcalf was the son of Rowland and the late Eleanor Metcalf (nee Hale).
He operated his own plumbing service.
He is survived by his children, Kristie, Taylor, Kaitlyn and Jordan; his sister, Joyce Jankowski; and several extended family members.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst.

Atria Darien Residents Help With Person-To-Person Food Drive
DARIEN, Conn. -- Residents of Atria Senior Living Darien recently stapled shopping lists to 2,000 paper grocery bags, in preparation for the upcoming Wilton Postal Food Drive.
The food drive will take place on Saturday, November 21.
The event will benefit the Norwalk chapter of Person-to-Person, an organization established in 1968 to provide low-income residents of Fairfield County with basic emergency services and help in achieving self-sufficiency. With offices in Darien and Norwalk, the group’s service area includes Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton.

Alvaro Ricardo Pereda, 67, Of Garfield
GARFIELD, N.J. -- Alvaro Ricardo Pereda, of Garfield, died Friday, Nov. 13. He was 67.
Pereda resided in Salavery, Peru before coming to the United States in 1989, eventually settling in Garfield. He was a paraprofessional for the Passaic Board of Education, where he taught at School # 1.
He is survived by his wife, Celinda Ackerson; his son, Axel Pereda; and his sisters and bothers, Elsa Caypo, Carmenrita Pereda Lee, Aida Aronson and Oscar and Pepe Pereda.
Cremation will be private.
