Newtown Shelter Waives Adoption Fees To Help Cats Find Homes NEWTOWN, Conn. -- In an effort to reduce the number of cats at its Fairfield Hills animal shelter, Newtown is waving its feline adoption fees, the Newtown Bee reports. The surplus of cats came about because of an animal cruelty case on Town’s End Road that resulted in the state Department of Agriculture seizing more than 30 of the animals, the Bee reports. The program, which applies only to fines from Kent Public Library, does not include rebates for lost or damaged items. Collected food will be donated to the Putnam Community Action Program.
