Plainfield Woman, 83, Hospitalized After SUV Hit Her As She Crossed Road: Police An elderly pedestrian was hospitalized after she was hit by a car in Plainfield on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 3. Plainfield police Lt. Troy Gelinas said the crash happened near Railroad Avenue and Route 12. An 83-year-old woman was crossing the road when a Chevrolet Tahoe hit her with its passenger mirror. Gelinas said the injuries were minor and not life-threatening. Paramedics took the woman to Backus Hospital in Norwich for evaluation and treatment. The driver stayed at the scene, authorities said.
