Darien Kids Want To Stop Distracted Driving Darien Kids Want To Stop Distracted Driving Darien Kids Want To Stop Distracted Driving
Darien Kids Want To Stop Distracted Driving Kristi Carey knows that a lot of her fellow teenagers text while driving. That’s why she and the other members of Students Against Destructive Decisions are working to host a Safety Fair at Darien High School next month -- to point up the dangers of distracted driving. "I think a lot of teenagers are under the impression that it can never happen to them,” says Kristi, “that they're somehow immune. We want to get the message out that if they're not careful, it can happen to them. We want to raise awareness before it's too late." The fair will be held May 10 in the courtyard of the High Sch…

Darien Man's Site Matches Volunteers With Causes Most volunteering websites simply list organizations that are looking for volunteers. Darien resident Ned Brokaw is taking a different approach. His Volunteer Square matches organizations with the skill sets of people looking to help. "What we're trying to do is to penetrate the community in a way that other sites don't," Brokaw said. “Our function is to find places where members can find the best use for their skills." He says the site might also interest recent college graduates or high school students. "Kids in high school may not get excited about volunteering, but if they can see You…
