Obi leads Greens Farms Over Rye CD Sean Obi’s 37 points and 18 rebounds and an intense team defensive effort paced Greens Farms Academy to a 60-48 win over Rye Country Day Wednesday in a Fairchester Athletic Association game in Westport. RCD had beaten the Dragons (3-3) earlier in the season. Dan Chase scored 15 first-half points and Hunter Eggers scored eight while dishing out a team-high five assists. The big difference, however, was defense. Using a 12-man rotation, GFA held Rye Country Day to 20 points in the second half, a season-low for one half. Eric Walsh and Will Pavlis started the game, but were able to switch in…

Norwalk Swimmers Dunked by Darien Norwalk Swimmers Dunked by Darien Norwalk Swimmers Dunked by Darien
Norwalk Swimmers Dunked by Darien Norwalk's boys swimming team is still wet behind the ears, in a literal and figurative sense. Ravaged by graduation losses and with many newcomers on the squad, coach Doug Marchetti figures this year to be a rebuilding job. The Bears, a co-op team with McMahon, fell to Darien on Wednesday, 97-76. The Blue Wave won every event to drop the Bears to 0-2. "It's still early,'' Marchetti said. "We're a young team, and these meets are about our kids gaining meet experience. The thing I like about this team is that they have a positive attitude and they are working hard. "Do we have a lot of work …

It was only the second meet of the season for the Blue Wave, who dropped a 94-89 decision to Greenwich on Dec. 15. "It's great to get that first win of the season,'' first-year coach Jason Cochran said. "We had some good swims in a lot of events." James Baker, Chris Weihs, Jake Greene and Tyler Gould won two individual events each for the Blue Wave, and Jake Botwell captured the diving. Darien also swept the relays, with Gould, Baker, Greene and Weihs combining to win the 400-free relay.…

Barlow Girls Fall to Undefeated Weston Barlow Girls Fall to Undefeated Weston Barlow Girls Fall to Undefeated Weston
Barlow Girls Fall to Undefeated Weston Joel Barlow's girls basketball team is one of the top defensive teams in the South-West Conference, and perhaps the state. If the Falcons can generate a touch more offense, they might be sending some shock waves through the conference. Barlow fell to undefeated Weston, 33-25, Tuesday night in a scrappy contest at Barlow. The Falcons led 9-2 after one quarter, but struggled on offense the rest of the night. Rachel Schenck scored eight points to lead Barlow (3-2), and Kelly Haines added six. Barlow forged a 23-23 tie with 7:45 left in the fourth quarter on a basket by Victoria Shea, and wer…
Weston Girls Beat Barlow, Go to 6-0 Weston Girls Beat Barlow, Go to 6-0 Weston Girls Beat Barlow, Go to 6-0
Weston Girls Beat Barlow, Go to 6-0 Weston's girls basketball got off to a slow start, its floor leader saw limited minutes because of foul trouble, and neighboring Joel Barlow came swarming after the Trojans with an aggressive defense from the opening tip. Everything seemed to be going against the Trojans. But they won, 33-25, Tuesday night at Barlow to improve to 6-0. The victory should be a tremendous confidence-builder for a team that suddenly has the look of a South-West Conference contender. "I'm proud of the kids,'' first-year coach Dan Rosen said. "They fought through some adversity and pulled it out. That will help u…
