Darien Eighth-Graders Advance In Football Playoffs DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien White eighth-grade football team defeated Wilton Blue, 14-8, to reach the semifinals of the Fairfield County Football League playoffs. Darien will play Fairfield Black in the semifinals Sunday at Darien High School. The championship game will be played the weekend of Nov. 23 to 24. Darien White improved to 8-1 and beat Wilton for the second time this season. Darien won 20-6 earlier this year. Darien also beat Fairfield, 6-0, earlier in the season. Greenwich Alliance For Education Plans 5K Turkey Trot GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich Alliance for Education will host its third annual Turkey Trot at Bruce Park on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 9:30 a.m. Runners and walkers will be able to choose either a 5K race or a noncompetitive 1-mile run/walk. Both will begin and end at the Arch Street Teen Center at 100 Arch St. The 1-mile fun run/walk will start at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K will start at 10 a.m. All proceeds from the Turkey Trot will directly benefit the Greenwich Alliance for Education’s programs, which aim to foster educational success for Greenwich Public School students. Runners From The Harvey School Shine At Cross Country Race KATONAH, N.Y. -- Three juniors on The Harvey School’s cross country team more had strong performances in the New England Prep School Track Association (NEPSTA) Division IV Cross-Country Championships Saturday in Connecticut. Sam Mackiewicz of Ridgefield, Conn., Harvey’s team captain, finished the 3.2 mile course at Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, Conn. with a time of 18:36, good for a 31st place finish. 2 Norwalk Cheer Teams Qualify For New England Competition NORWALK, Conn. -- Two cheerleading teams from Norwalk Junior Football and Cheer qualified for the New England championships later this month after finishing in the top three at the recent state championships.
