Easton's Christopher Thomas Wins Ironman 70.3 Mile World Title EASTON, Conn. – Easton’s Christopher Thomas won his second straight Ironman 70.3 mile age-group World Championship on Sunday in Las Vegas. Thomas finished the race in 4:21:56, beating runner-up Karl Wimmer of Germany by 2:55 in the 40-44 age group. The race includes a 1.2 mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run. Thomas was 47th overall in the field of 1,372 international athletes. The race was decided in the final two legs. Thomas emerged from the water in 17th place, but posted the fastest time in his age group on the bike. He averaged 23.27 miles per hour and finished in 2:24.23.…

John E. Shook, 67, Lifelong Ossining Resident OSSINING, N.Y. -- John E. Shook, a lifelong resident of Ossining, died on Sept. 9. He was 67. Shook was born in Ossining on Sept. 25, 1945 and was the son of Elden and Carmella (Monea) Shook. “Shookie” was 67. He was a graduate of Ossining High School, Class of 1963, and a graduate of Westchester Community College. He married Connie Perillo on June 10, 1967. Registration Closes Wednesday For Darien Triathlon DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien Sports Shop ITPMan Triathlon steps off Saturday at 7 a.m. at Weed Beach in Darien.
