Wilton Wahoos Crown 3 Swimming Champions At Nationals WILTON, Conn. – The Wilton Wahoos crowned three national champions, broke four Connecticut records and won the men’s team championship at last week’s YMCA Long Course National Swimming Championships at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta. The Wahoo men won with 628 points, while the women came in eighth. The Wahoos finished fourth with men and women combined. Stephen Homquist won the men’s 800. William Glenn Van Buren, 54, Former Yorktown Heights Resident YORKTOWN HIEGHTS, N.Y. -- William Glenn Van Buren,54, formerly of Yorktown Heights, died suddenly on his ranch in Colorado on Aug. 3. Bill was a stock trader by trade, but his passion was his ranch in Colorado. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and skier who lived his life to the fullest. He was excited to have recently acquired bison and had plans to retire in two years to his ranch. He loved sports and was a supporter of the New York Yankees. Norwalk Riptide Goes 2-2 At Babe Ruth Softball Series NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Riptide 16-and-under softball team went 2-2 in the Babe Ruth Softball World Series over the weekend in Wilson County, N.C. The team did not earn a berth in the six-team double elimination round. Two one-run losses hurt Norwalk's bid to advance. The Riptide lost its opening game, 3-2, to Hoquiam, Wash., on Friday morning. Norwalk 15U Babe Ruth Team Finishes Season Undefeated NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk 15-and-under Babe Ruth team defeated New Milford, 4-2, in the Interstate 84 League championship game. Norwalk finished the season 19-0. Norwalk won the league for the third straight year, beating teams from Shelton, Brookfield, Bethel, Darien, Greenwich and New Canaan along the way. Norwalk Softball Team Makes Long-Awaited Trip To World Series NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Riptide 16-and-under softball team has been chasing a berth in the Babe Ruth World Series for years.
