Stamford Woman Weathers Tough Triathlons STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford’s Sheri St. John plans to complete Wednesday the triathlon hat trick in a race in Middlebury. The race figures to be much easier than her first two events this year. In May, St. John raced in the St. George Ironman race in Utah, and she needed more than 15 hours to finish. Six weeks later, she competed in the first Mighty Moss Half Iron competition, which she finished in just under six. 3 North Stamford Ballplayers Enjoy Perfect Season STAMFORD, Conn. – For three players on the North Stamford Little League All-Star team, the baseball season has been absolutely perfect. Grant Purpura, Hunter Semmel and Michael Lisinicchia played on Haggerty Pools during the house league season in North Stamford, and their team went 21-0. That includes a 17-0 regular season, and a 4-0 playoff record. The post-season has been just as rewarding. Darien Team Wins Babe Ruth District Title DARIEN, Conn. – Darien’s 13-year-old Babe Ruth All-Star team ended a 42-year drought last year by winning the District 1 championship.   Sunday, a new group of Darien 13-year-olds repeated the feat. Darien battled back after losing its first game of the tournament to win its next three and repeat as  District 1 champions. Stamford Junior Legion Baseball Jumps Into First STAMFORD, Conn. – The Stamford American Legion Junior team won three games over the weekend to improve to 17-2 and take over first place in the Zone 4 standings. Stamford owns a one-game lead over Trumbull with eight games left in the regular season. The Zone 4 champion gets a first-round bye in the state tournament.
