Easton Triathlete Wins Amateur Division In R.I. EASTON, Conn. – A week after winning the KIC It Triathlon in Stamford, Easton’s Chris Thomas added to his trophy collection by winning the amateur division of the Amica Ironman 70.3 Sunday in Providence, R.I. It was the fifth straight year Thomas has won the amateur division of the race. Thomas completed the race in 4:13:51 and was sixth overall. The five men who finished ahead of Thomas were all professionals. Thomas’ best leg was the run. He ran the 13.1-mile race in 1:20:38, the sixth-best time in the field. Sunday, she picked up her first victory by winning the New York City Triathlon. Bevilacqua, 38, covered the Olympic-distance event in 2:00:04. She won by 20 seconds over Elizabeth Blatchford of England. Bevilacqua made up a huge amount of ground on the 40-kilometer (24.8 mile) bike ride, and took the lead for good a little more than two miles into the 10k (6.2 mile) run.
