Diving Postponed; Swimmers Race on Thursday FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference diving championships were postponed Wednesday because of the bad weather. The divers will compete Friday at Westhill High School in Stamford beginning at 4:30 p.m. The league swimming championships are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenwich High School. Greenwich is the defending league champion. New Canaan, which won the championship meet in 2007, is the only team other than the Cardinals to capture league honors since 1971. Weston Boys, Girls Take 7th in State Open Skiing WESTON, Conn. – The Weston High boys and girls ski teams both finished seventh overall in the season-ending state championships Wednesday at Mouth Southington. The girls finished fourth in Class S. They were also 10-7 on the season and 6-4 in their division. Freshman Shelby Merberg led the team, finishing fourth on the mountain out of 90 skiers at the Open. Young Wilton Wrestlers Medal at States WILTON, Conn. – Hans Forland finished third in his division and Will Litton took fourth to lead a strong performance by the Wilton Youth Wrestling team at the Connecticut State championships over the weekend in New Haven. State Title Caps Year for Young Norwalk Wrestlers NORWALK, Conn. – Jakari Walker of the Norwalk Mad Bull youth wrestling team won the state championship and several teammates also had strong showings last weekend in the Connecticut State Championships in New Haven. Jeff Cocchia, Koy Price, Angel Nieves and Jeff Capone also qualified for the state tournament, which was at Hillhouse High School.
