Staples Pole Vaulter Takes 2nd at Eastern States WESTPORT, Conn. – Staples senior Lexie Schachne finished second Tuesday at the Eastern State Championships in the pole vault. The meet was held at The Armory in New York, and included 16 girls from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Schachne cleared 11-feet, 6-inches, to earn a three-way tie for second. Westport PAL Names Girls Lacrosse Director WESTPORT, Conn. — Amy Alvord has joined the Westport Police Athletic League as director of girls lacrosse.  Alvord started her lacrosse career in Simsbury and played midfield at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y. She helped lead the Herons to the NCAA finals all four years there.  A three-time All-American, Alvord moved to Germany in 2003 to assist in starting a women’s lacrosse program and soon led the team to back-to-back national championships.  When she returned to the United States, Alvord coached the Fairfield Ludlowe High School team to its first state title.
