Fairfield County Athletes Star at New England Meet FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. Staples boys track and field team won two events while Fairfield Wardes Harry Warnick won the mile at Fridays New England track and field championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. Staples junior Henry Wynne won the 1,000, while the Wreckers also took the 4 x 400 relay. Staples Runners Savor New England Success WESTPORT, Conn. If theres such a thing as a perfect game in track and field, Staples recorded it Friday night at the New England Track and Field championships. The 4 x 400 relay won the event for the third straight year and set a school record. Henry Wynne added a school record in winning the 1,000 meters. And the 4 x 200 relay took down a long-standing school record in finishing sixth. Warde Runner Captures New England Crown FAIRFIELD, Conn. When you enter the hall that leads to the gymnasium at Fairfield Warde, a banner with school track and field records includes Harry Warnicks name numerous times. Now he can add another title to his running accomplishments: New England champion. Warnick won the mile at the New England Track and Field Championships Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center, running 4:20.22. Darien 6th-Grade Boys Fall in Overtime DARIEN, Conn. For the second straight year, a stellar regular season for the Darien YMCA basketball team coached by Joe Marzano ended in disappointment in the Fairfield County Basketball League playoffs. The sixth-grade boys team lost to Carver Center of Norwalk, 66-64, in overtime in a quarterfinal game Saturday at Saxe Middle School in New Canaan. Fairfield County Youth Tourney Hits the Hardwood FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. Teams from throughout every Fairfield County community are beginning play this weekend in the season-ending Fairfield County Basketball League tournament. It is one of the largest in the nation, with 250 teams for boys and girls in grades 5 to 8. The tournament runs through March 11. The Fairfield Police Athletic League Hawks seventh grade boys basketball team dropped a 58-46 decision to Southbury Thursday in the opening game of the Fairfield County Basketball League tournament.
