Stamford Babe Ruth Plans Registration STAMFORD, Conn. — Babe Ruth Baseball of Stamford will conduct registration for players ages 13-18 at Stamford High School. Registration dates are Feb. 12 19 and 26 and March 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school gym. Regular league fees are $225 for 13-year-olds, $200 for 14- to 15-year-olds and $125 for 16- to 18-year-olds. There is a $100 fee for players in the spring travel program. Skyliners Skate to 6 Medals at Easterns FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Skyliners Synchronized Skating team won three gold medals and three silver medals at the Eastern Synchronized Skating Championships in Hershey, Pa. Young Swimmers Ready to Dive Into Norwalk Meet NORWALK, Conn. – Zeus Swim Club of Norwalk will host the second Marie Mortell meet for swimmers ages 10-and-under Saturday at Norwalk High School. Mortell, a one-time Norwalk resident, won a gold medal in the 1948 London Olympics as a member of the 4 x 100 freestyle relay team. She died in 2010. The meet begins at 8:45 and features children swimming in 10-and-under and 8-and-under divisions. In addition to individual events, the swimmers will also compete in relays.

Norwalk Martial Arts Students Win Competition NORWALK, Conn. – Members of Gracie Sports in Norwalk competed in a Brazilian jiu jitsu martial arts tournament at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I. Eleven young athletes from Gracie participated, with Jacob Gonzales, Justin McNamara and Skylar Davidson earning first place. Jason Singer also placed for Gracie, which is coached by Marcio Stambowsky. Other coaches are Maurcio Clemente, Thiago SilbaTodd, Sandy Bucaro and Debra Stambowsky. Brazilian jiu jitsu is a form of martial arts. Videos of matches by Gonzales and McNamara are available online.
