Arraya, Shea Win 3rd Straight State Platform Title WESTON, Conn. – Juan Arraya and Sheri Shea won their third straight Connecticut Mixed Platform Tennis championship Saturday at Aspetuck Valley Country Club in Weston. They defeated Susan Lovejoy and Sebastian Bredberg in the final, 6-4, 6-4. It was the third straight title for the duo. Arraya, a resident of Riverside, is director of racquet sports at Aspetuck. Shea is the director of racquet sports at Tumble Brook in Bloomfield. The pair entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed. In the B Draw, Kelly Howe and Michael Lawton won the main flight by defeating Sheila and David Mueller of Darien.…

Warde Wrestlers Deck Greenwich FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Warde’s wrestling team and coach Jason Shaughnessy had a special motivation for Wednesday's match against Greenwich. The mental energy for the Mustangs' 61-6 romp came from a setback in the meeting between the teams last year. Warde wrestlers registered seven pins and lost just two matches to improve to 8-1 on the season. The Mustangs’ only loss is to New Milford, which is ranked third in the state in the latest coaches poll by the Norwich Bulletin. Stamford Golf Community Mourns Death of DeLeo STAMFORD, Conn. – Jake DeLeo was more than just a golfer at Hubbard Heights in Stamford. DeLeo, who died Sunday at age 97, was Hubbard Heights. Officially, the name of the golf course on Stillwater Road in Stamford is E. Gaynor Brennan. Everybody who has been in town of some duration still refer to it as “The Heights.” The course opened for play in the 1920s, and became a public facility in 1949.
