State Cross Country Date, Site Switched FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The date and site for the State Open cross country championships were changed Tuesday by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The meet will now take place Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Hammonasset State Park in Madison. The boys race will being at 1:45, and the girls race will begin at 2:30. The race had been scheduled for Friday at Wickham Park in Manchester, site of last Saturday’s class championships. Memories of Child Draw Easton Woman to Marathon EASTON, Conn. – The mother of a girl Nancy Muir used to baby-sit asked her for a unique favor: to run the ING New York City Marathon. The Easton woman happily agreed. Muir is running Sunday’s race to support a charity, Alexandra’s Playground, an organization that builds safe play areas. 2 Fairfield Soccer Teams Play in State Cup Action FAIRFIELD, Conn.  – Two Fairfield United boys soccer teams play this week in the semifinals of the Connecticut Cup. The games were postponed due to last weekend’s snowstorm. The Fairfield United 12 Black Tornadoes play Stamford in the semifinals. The Under-13 Revolution will play Shelton. The Tornadoes have defeated the FUSA Pride, 3-2, Simsbury Sharks, 3-1, and Old Greenwich-Riverside, 5-3. The Colonial Youth Football League game had been scheduled for Sunday but was postponded due to the storm. The Packers 7th grade team plays Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Newtown. New Canaan Runner Excels at Boston College NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan’s Hope Krause finished 18th to help the Boston College women’s cross country team finish second Saturday in the Atlantic Coast Conference cross country championships. Krause, a graduate student at BC, ran a season's best 28:56.0 and was the third runner to cross the finish line for BC. The Eagles, ranked 24th in the country, trailed only Florida State. Darien Runner Earns All-Ivy Honors DARIEN, Conn. – Darien’s Caroline McDonough earned All-Ivy League honors in cross country Saturday with a sixth place finish at the Heptagonal Championships at Princeton’s West Windsor Fields. Running through heavy snow and freezing temperatures, McDonough finished sixth over the 6,000-meter course. She was Columbia’s second-place runner and finished in 22:15.5.
