Runners Hit the Road in Darien on Sunday DARIEN, Conn. One of Fairfield County's most enduring road races takes place Sunday in the 32nd annual Darien Road Race. The 10K run and 1.5 mile fun run begin at 1 p.m. at Pear Tree Point in Darien. The race has raised more than $850,000 to support local community social services and cancer-support organizations. The race benefits The Community Fund of Darien; The Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital and The Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital. McMahon Volleyball Nips Norwalk in 4 Games NORWALK, Conn. Dalycia Crawford-Jean stood at the Norwalk service line with a volleyball in her hands and redemption in her heart. The Brien McMahon volleyball player wasn't going to let an opportunity to defeat Norwalk High for the first time in her career slip from her grasp. Greens Farms Volleyball Spiked by Sacred Heart WESTPORT, Conn. The Greens Farms Academy girls volleyball team lost a tough match to Convent of the Sacred Heart Thursday, falling 27-25, 25-18 and 25-23 in a Fairchester Athletic Association game. An early-season festival of running takes place Saturday morning when 20 cross-country teams from around the state visit Allen's Meadows for the 23rd annual Wilton Invitational. Wilton Athletes Swim, Ride and Run in Westport WILTON, Conn. Wilton athletes were among the finishers in the Westport Kiwanis Triathlon Sunday at Compo Beach. Shane Meehan of New York won the overall race, while Stamford's Megan Kelly paced the women's field. Wilton's Callum Breene, 14, finished second among boys in the 13-14-year-old division. Cyclists To Race in Greenwich on Sunday GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Volvo of Stamford Tour de Greenwich XXVII, a 20-mile bicycle race, will begin at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Greenwich High School. The pre-entry fee is $35, and it is $45 on the morning of the race. Each participant will receive a long-sleeve race shirt and a water bottle.
