New Canaan Triathlete Wins Age Group Title NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Eben Jones of New Canaan won his age division and was the top Connecticut finisher Saturday at the USA Triathlon National Age Group Championship in Burlington, Vt. Jones, 51, finished first out of 110 contestants in the 50-54 age division. He finished the race in 2:02.51. The Olympic distance consisted of a 1.5-kilometer (0.93 mile) swim, a 40K (24.8-mile) bike ride and a 10K (6.2-mile) run. Jones came in 49th overall in a field of 1,649 finishers. Wilson Eliminated at U.S. Amateur NORWALK, Conn. – Rowayton golfer Cameron Wilson lost in the first round of match play at the U.S. Amateur golf competition Thursday at Erin Hills in Erin, Wis. Kelly Kraft, of Denton, Texas, eliminated Wilson, 3&2. Wilson, who will be a sophomore at Stanford University, trailed after the second hole and never gained the lead. The match was halted Wednesday because of darkness with Wilson 3-down after seven holes. Kraft continued to build the lead and was 4-up after 10. Local Sprinters Excel in Final Scholastic Meet WILTON, Conn. – Connecticut Elite sprinters Margo Foley of Wilton and Kelley Hussey of Westport ran in the final meets of their high school careers earlier this month in Newburgh, N.Y. Hussey won the 100 in a time of 12.91, followed by Foley in 13.14. Foley later finished first in the 200 in 27.34, setting a personal record.
