Xtreme Cheerleaders Win 4 Events at Nationals The Norwalk-based Xtreme Cheer team won four events at Sunday's U.S. Finals, the last and most significant cheerleading competition of the season. The Xtreme teams Shine, Shimmer, Dazzle and the co-ed Blaze won their divisions at the U.S. Finals in Providence, R.I. Providence was one of eight sites to host the finals over a month. Nearly 1,350 teams compete in the U.S. finals, which are aimed at crowning champions in all division and levels of cheer and dance. The victories capped a tremendous year for the Xtreme teams. Norwalk Boy Donates Toys for Needy Kids Three-year-old Max Ford of Norwalk has turned a life lesson into a toy-giving opportunity for needy children with disabilities. Max’s dad, Chris, and mom, Eileen Crispell Ford, used the children's book "The Dragonfly Door" to help Max understand death after the family experienced a number of losses recently, including that of a grandmother. The book explains death through the lifecycle of the dragonfly, which leaves its marsh home for dry land upon maturity, never to return to the family nest. Weston Boys Lacrosse Rips New Milford Matt Brooks and Lyle Mitchell combined for seven goals as Weston's boys lacrosse team thumped New Milford, 14-4, in a South-West Conference game Thursday at New Milford. The win improved Weston's record to 9-3 overall and 8-2 in the SWC. Brooks had four goals while Mitchell had three and an assist for the Trojans, who built a 9-1 halftime lead.
