Pole Vault Record Falls as Staples Sweeps Lexie Schachne set a school record in the pole vault as the Staples High girls track team celebrated Senior Day on Monday by sweeping Trumbull and Westhill. The Wreckers defeated Trumbull, 78-65, and Westhill, 113-28. Schachne, a junior, cleared 12 feet, 0 inches to win the pole vault. She broke her own record, which she set earlier this year. Schachne also had a personal best in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches, and the 100 in 12.6. Other highlights for Staples included wins by Turner Block in the 100 (12.5) and 400 (61.6).
