Greenwich Runners Race in Mother's Day 10K Greenwich's Meredith Kalish finished second among women runners in Sunday's 34th annual Mother's Day 10K at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. Kalish ran 41:26 and finished 11th overall. There were 354 finishers in the race, which was sponsored by the Lightfoot Running Club. Bridgeport's Wantuil Souza won the men's race, and Norwalk's Julie Heaphy led the women's field. Cos Cob's Ron Rembaum finished second in the men's 60-69 age group, and Greenwich's Natalie Schaffer was third in the women's 60-69 age group.  Complete results are available online. Longshore Women Play Weekly Golf Tournament The Longshore Women's Golf Association played an ABCD tournament on Tuesday. The winning team posted a 76, and featured Peggy Barton, Cathy Ryan, Daphne Cook and Barbara Fucigna. They won the tournament on a match of cards. The winning group shot 36 on the final nine holes. The team of Patty Kondub, Gael Ficken, Lori Wasserman and Sue Ostermuller had 40 on the final nine while Wendy Montanaro, Barbara Rose, Suzanne Goldstein and Corky London posted 38. New Canaan Girls Split in Tri-Meet Cristina Konstantinovic won two events to lead New Canaan in a girls track meet against Darien and Bassick. The Blue Wave defeated New Canaan, 96-49, while the Rams topped Bassick, 115-21. Konstantinovic won the 100 hurdles and the long jump with a state-qualifying mark of 15 feet, 1 inch. She also took second in the 300 hurdles and triple jump. Also for the Rams, Stephanie Benko won the 3,200 in a state-qualifying time of 11:45.0. Darien Rugby Team Stuns Xavier The Darien High School Rugby Club scored another memorable victory in the New York Metropolitan League, defeating a powerful Xavier High School squad, 26-20. The game started well for the Blue Wave, with a thrusting attack shortly after kickoff resulting in a Max Kiplinger try in the opening minutes. Sam McCarthy added the conversion. TPT Engravers, Schwartz Law Unbeaten in Ripken TPT Engravers (4-0) and Schwartz Law (4-0-2) sit on top of the Norwalk Cal Ripken Major and Minor Divisions, respectively, as each team remained undefeated through the first week of May. Wilton White 4th-Graders Win in OT Mother's Day was special for the Wilton White fourth-grade boys lacrosse team. With their moms cheering from the sideline, Wilton fought hard for a 4-3 overtime win over Ridgefield Orange. Wilton took an early first quarter lead on a goal by Ryan Schriber. Despite excellent play by goalie Andrew Calabrese, who had nine saves, Ridgefield scored three unanswered goals as Wilton played short defensive players because of penalties.
