Danbury Man Charged With Assaulting Woman During Street Robbery DANBURY, Conn. -- A woman was knocked unconscious by a Danbury man who robbed her of $80 and a pack of cigarettes on a downtown Danbury street, according to the News-Times. Police told the News-Times that 38-year-old Thomas West asked the woman for money between midnight and 1 a.m. Wednesday before he punched her in the back of the head in an alley on Bank Street. The blow knocked her unconscious, and when she regained consciousness he hit her again, the News-Times reported. He then grabbed the money and cigarettes and fled, according to the News-Times. New Canaan Police: Driver Under The Influence Had Loaded Gun NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A Stamford man was arrested in New Canaan on drunken driving charges on Friday had a loaded gun in his pocket, according to police. At around 9:18 p.m. an officer saw a car driven by 51-year-old Brian Gerard driving on the wrong side of the road on Old Stamford Road and pulled him over, police said. After talking with Gerard, the officer noticed the odor of alcohol and had Gerard perform a field sobriety test, which he failed, according to police. Bridgeport Man Receives 12 Years For Tying Up Woman In Weston Home Invasion WESTON, Conn. — A Bridgeport man will be imprisoned for 12 years after pleading guilty to a 2015 Weston home invasion in which he tied up a woman while he burglarized her home, according to the Stamford Advocate. Newtown Attorney Charged With Defrauding Clients In Real Estate Scheme NEWTOWN, Conn. -- A Newtown attorney with offices in Bridgeport was charged with defrauding victims of more than $900,000 through a real estate scheme, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut Deirdre M. Daly. Thomas M. Murtha, 61, of Newtown was arrested in Michigan on Wednesday and charged with wire fraud, a federal crime. He appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Michigan and released on a $10,000 bond. Darien Actor Injured In Bar Assault Sues DARIEN, Conn. -- A Darien resident and actor is suing a man charged with assaulting him at a local bar in December in an incident that left him with severe facial injuries, according to the Darien Times. Youths Charged With Stealing Car After Breaking Into Rowayton Home NORWALK, Conn. — Two teens were arrested Friday morning after breaking into a Rowayton home to take car keys, which they then used to steal a car, according to the Hour. A resident was awoken at around 2:40 a.m. by a noise and looked out the window to see someone driving his car away, the Hour reported. Riverbank Road Bridge In Stamford Closed Due To Safety Concerns STAMFORD, Conn. – The bridge on Riverbank Road near Laurel Ledge Road is closed to traffic after state inspectors determined that it is unstable due to collapsed abutments in the center of the bridge. The Connecticut Department of Transportation Bridge Safety and Evaluation Unit inspected the bridge this week and recommended to the city that it be closed to traffic. The bridge was immediately closed by the city's office of operations.
