Connecticut Introduces New Area Code In 860 Region FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Connecticut is introducing a new 959 area code in the calling region currently serviced by the 860 area code, according to NBC Connecticut. The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority announced the new area code Tuesday, NBC Connecticut reported. The change won't affect people who currently have an 860 area code, but will be used for new numbers in the region going forward. Darien Woman Pleads Guilty To Embezzling $800K From Veterans Service DARIEN, Conn. -- A Darien woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to embezzling nearly $800,000 from a veterans services organization where she worked, according to Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Cynthia Tanner, 54, pleaded guilty in a Hartford federal court to one count of wire fraud and one count of tax evasion, Daly said. Stamford Teens Charged With Stealing Packages Off Porches STAMFORD, Conn. -- Two Stamford teens were charged with stealing packages off of porches and breaking into a home on Hope Street on Monday, according to police.Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Hope Street Monday afternoon on several reports of packages being stolen and a house being broken into, police said.
