19 Injured In Bus Crash On I-95 In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- A collision between a coach bus and a truck on I-95 southbound in Norwalk Wednesday afternoon sent 19 people to the hospital and snarled traffic for several hours. The driver of the bus was pinned inside and was taken to Norwalk Hospital and was in serious condition, Norwalk fire officials said. Of the 41 passengers on the bus, 18 were taken to Norwalk Hospital and Stamford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Darien Woman Killed In Crash On Route 7 In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- An 85-year-old woman from Darien involved in a three-car crash on Route 7 in Norwalk Tuesday has died, according to state police. Selma Spector of Ledge Road in Darien was a passenger in the Honda Pilot that rolled on the roadway and went over a guardrail down an embankment Tuesday afternoon. She was taken to Norwalk Hospital, where she died of her injuries, according to police. The accident took place at 3:17 p.m. on Route 7 southbound between exits 1 and 2 in Norwalk. Norwalk Firefighters Free Driver After Accident On I-95 NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk firefighters freed a driver stuck in a car following an accident on I-95 northbound Tuesday night. The Norwalk Fire Department responded to the accident scene between exits 13 and 14 at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday. A disabled car in the center breakdown lane had been struck from behind by a pickup truck traveling in the high speed lane, fire officials said. Darien Cops Arrested In Shooting Incident Placed On Leave DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien Police Chief Duane Lovello called the allegations against two Darien officers arrested in a shooting incident "disturbing" and said that both have been placed on leave pending an internal investigation. Officers James Martin and Daniel Ehret were arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Three Injured In Route 7 Crash In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- A car went over a guardrail and down an embankment on Route 7 in Norwalk Tuesday, shutting down traffic for several hours and causing life-threatening injuries to two people trapped inside, fire officials said. Route 7 Southbound In Norwalk Closed After Accident NORWALK, Conn. --Route 7 southbound in Norwalk is closed following a serious accident Tuesday afternoon. The accident was reported shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday. Norwalk police tweeted that an accident involving multiple vehicles and injuries occurred on the Route 7 connector near Exit 2, including a vehicle that went down an embankment. Norwalk Police: Man Tried To Buy iPad With Fake ID NORWALK, Conn. -- A Brooklyn, N.Y., man who tried to purchase an iPad at the Best Buy in Norwalk had several fake IDs and credit cards on him, according to police. Vladimir Yahontov, 35, was charged with fifth-degree larceny, credit card theft, criminal attempt and second-degree forgery. He was held on $25,000 bond and will appear in court Oct. 13. Driver With No Headlights Leads Darien Police On Low-Speed Chase DARIEN, Conn. – A Flushing, N.Y., man on his way back from a casino trip was cited after police said he led them on a low-speed pursuit onto I-95 in Darien last week. At 3:52 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, an officer saw a black Dodge Caliber with a New York registration parked on the Post Road in front of Grieb’s Pharmacy. Man Charged With Using Fake Credit Card At Norwalk Best Buy For PlayStation NORWALK, Conn. -- An observant clerk at Best Buy stopped a man who was trying to buy two PlayStations with a fake credit card, Norwalk police said. Darien Police Rescue Travelers Stranded After Pope Visit DARIEN, Conn. -- With quick thinking and help from Darien Post 53, Darien police officers were able to help 60 people who became stranded in town last week on their way back to Boston after seeing Pope Francis in Philadelphia. Officers on the overnight shift came across the large group on West Avenue near Post Road at about 2:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28.
