Norwalk Police To Crack Down On Drunken Boating This Weekend NORWALK, Conn. -- As the summer boating season gets into full swing, Norwalk police will be cracking down on people boating under the influence this weekend as part of the national Operation Dry Water campaign. Police Identify Norwalk Woman, 49, Killed In Crash Off Route 7 NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police have identified the woman killed in a two-car crash early Sunday as Doris Ramirez-Giraldo, 49, of Norwalk. The accident occurred at 3:17 a.m. Sunday when a car exiting Route 7 onto Belden Avenue hit another car, according to police. Each car contained a driver and a passenger, all of whom were taken to Norwalk Hospital. Ramirez-Girlado later died of her injuries. Darien Woman Bit During Dog Fight On Homestead Road DARIEN, Conn. -- A Darien woman was injured breaking up a fight between her dog and another dog on Homestead Road, police said. The incident occurred June 12 at about 9 a.m. when the 50-year-old woman was walking her dog on a leash near her home on Homestead Road, police said. When they passed a neighbor's house, the neighbor's female black lab mix came out and attacked her dog, according to police reports. The woman's dog was bit on the rear end and neck, police said. Norwalk Woman Charged With Setting Fires In Parking Lot NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk woman was charged with setting fires in a parking lot Sunday night, according to police. Angela Umpierre, 25, was charged with reckless burning, criminal mischief, third-degree assault and interfering with an officer. She was held on $20,000 bond and will appear in court June 29. Officers were called to the parking lot of the Office Cafe in Liberty Square at 10:30 p.m. Sunday on a report of a person in the parking lot lighting fires, police said. Police Arrest Three In Prostitution Sting At Norwalk Spa NORWALK, Conn. -- Three women were arrested in a prostitution sting at the Nirvana Spa on Main Street in Norwalk, according to police. Joo Yoon Kyung, 56, of Flushing, N.Y., was charged with third-degree promoting prostitution. Hye Kyong Newman, 60, of Commerce, Colo., was charged with second-degree promoting prostitution and permitting prostitution. Explore Weir Farm National Historic Site As Part Of 'A Kid In Every Park' WILTON, Conn. – Next year fourth grade students and their families will get a chance to explore national parks like Weir Farm on the Wilton-Ridgefield border through the National Park Foundation’s A Kid In Every Park program. Norwalk Police: Man Robbed At Gunpoint On Van Zant Street NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man reported being robbed at gunpoint on Van Zant Street late Thursday night, according to police. The 37-year-old man said he was dropped off at 25 Van Zant St. at about 11 p.m. Thursday. As he approached the building, he saw a black man come out of the bushes with a black handgun, he told police. The gunman told the victim to hand over his money, and he gave the robber an undisclosed amount of cash and his cellphone, police said.
