Port Chester Theater Mixes Shakespeare And "Mad Men" PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The Port Chester Council for the Arts will launch its eighth season of LawnChair Theatre with a production of "The Taming of the Shrew" inspired by the hit show "Mad Men." The classic Shakespeare comedy tells the story of Baptista Minola and his two daughters, Bianca and Katherine. Bianca is sweet, while Katherine is considered a shrew. Winning Powerball Ticket Sold In Rye About To Expire RYE, N.Y. -- Someone who bought a Powerball ticket outside Rye Playland last year won $1 million and has yet to come forward. Officials are urging the winner to redeem the ticket before it expires Aug. 25. The winning ticket for the Aug. 25, 2012 drawing was purchased at Playland Market, 488 Forest Ave. in Rye. Library Donation Tops Harrison's News This Week HARRISON, N.Y. -- A donation of up to $100,000 to the Harrison Library tops this week's news. The Jarden Corporation in Rye has pledged to donate up to $100,000 to the Harrison Public Library's upcoming renovation. Rye Town Hall Sale Tops Port Chester News This Week PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The sale of the Rye Town Hall building in Port Chester tops this week's news. Town of Rye officials sold the Town Hall building on Pearl Street in Port Chester to the owners of Neri's Bakery and the Capitol Theatre for $1.85 million. Port Chester Hosts Softball Classic In Firefighter's Memory PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The first Chucky Melillo Softball Classic will be held Saturday in memory of the Port Chester firefighter who died last year. Melillo was a lifelong resident of Port Chester and a captain in the Port Chester Fire Department. He was also a captain of the Westchester Vengeance semi-professional football team, and worked as an emergency medical technician for Empress Emergency Medical Services in Yonkers and Harrison Emergency Medical Services. The Wanderers are a rock and roll tribute band specializing in hits from the 1950s and '60s. They perform classic medleys from acts such as the Rolling Stones and Motown groups. Disney Channel And "Glee" Stars Perform At Rye Playland RYE, N.Y. -- Rye Playland will host a concert Saturday by American pop-rock band R5, featuring singers from the Disney Channel and "Glee." The band is comprised of siblings Riker, Rocky, Ross and Rydel Lynch, as well as their friend Ellington Ratliff. Rich Bobinski Orchestra Brings Polka To Port Chester PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The Rich Bobinski Orchestra will perform at a free concert at Lyon Park in Port Chester Friday night. The eight-person band specializes in polka music, but also integrates waltzes, show music and big band music.
