Student Awards Top Eastchester's News This Week EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Awards presented to a Tuckahoe student and an Eastchester alumni top this week's news. Hannah Zamor of the Immaculate Conception School in Tuckahoe was one of the winners of Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino's Challenge in Education. Zamor topped the benchmark 3.8 grade point average, and was honored at a town hall meeting Astorino hosted in Mount Vernon. E-Z Passes Top Harrison's News This Week HARRISON, N.Y. -- A program to start selling E-Z Passes in Harrison tops this week's news. Next month the Harrison Town Clerk's office will begin selling E-Z Pass "On the Go" tags for $25 apiece. Midnight Red Performs At Rye Playland Saturday RYE, N.Y. -- Boy band Midnight Red will perform at Rye Playland Saturday evening as part of its Pop Explosion Tour. The band formed in 2009 and is known for its harmonies and energetic dance moves. Midnight Red's first digital single "Hell Yeah" garnered more than 5 million views online, and its newest song "Take Me Home" will be featured in Coca-Cola commercials shown in movie theaters this summer. County Begins Updates To Westchester Airport Master Plan HARRISON, N.Y. -- The county is in the beginning stages of updating the master plan for the Westchester County Airport in Harrison, and is in the process of collecting thoughts and opinions from the public. The master plan is the long-term strategy for capital and infrastructure improvements to the airport to ensure that it complies with safety and environmental regulations. The last master plan was completed in 1980 and updated in 1987. Harrison Approves Sale Of E-Z Pass Tags HARRISON, N.Y. -- The Harrison Town Clerk's office will begin selling E-Z Pass "On the Go" tags next month. A proposal by Town Clerk Jackie Greer was approved by the Town Board at its Thursday night meeting. Greer had worked with the New York State Thruway Authority to make Harrison one of the first municipalities to offer the tags. The tags will be sold for $25 and can be used immediately after being purchased. Mojo Monde Performs In Port Chester Friday Night PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- It may be hot, but there will be cool rhythm and blues when Mojo Monde performs in Lyon Park in Port Chester on Friday evening. Led by Chappaqua resident Chris Fox, Mojo Monde performs a wide range of music inspired by blues, folk, 60s and 70s rock, and jam bands. The band features Fox on guitar, Grammy nominee Jon Cobert on keyboards, Tony Tino on bass and Denny McDermott on drums. Rye Racquet Club Teams Ace Metropolitan Interclub Tennis League RYE, N.Y. -- The Rye Racquet Club women's doubles teams won all three Metropolitan Interclub Tennis League divisions this year for the fifth time. The three teams all won their divisions in 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012. This year the A team, which has won its division for six consecutive years, earned 28 out of 32 points. Rye Schools Announce Teachers Of The Year RYE, N.Y. -- Iris Arest and Karen Kozan have been named the Teachers of the Year by the Rye City School District. Arest is a school psychologist at Rye High School, where she is responsible for the coordination of testing, evaluations, counseling, observations, CSE meetings and student reviews. Purchase Prof Wins Fulbright Grant To Study In India HARRISON, N.Y. -- A professor at Purchase College in Harrison has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant to study and teach in India next year.
