Harrison Receives $370,000 From FEMA For Sandy Cleanup HARRISON, N.Y. -- Harrison will receive a $370,000 grant from FEMA to cover the cost of debris removal after Hurricane Sandy. "Harrison is very happy to receive FEMA's payment,” said Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont. “It's nice to know that FEMA recognizes how diligent Harrison was in cleaning up the debris resulting from Hurricane Sandy." .S. Port Chester Students Win Hunger Leadership Challenge PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester Middle School was chosen as one of 11 winners nationwide in the Lead2Feed World Hunger Leadership Challenge. The students from the middle school team expanded the school's garden to grow organic vegetables, which were donated to the Don Bosco Community Center. They were able to grow more than 1,000 pounds of food, 90 percent of which will be donated and 10 percent that will be used to educate students. Rye Hosts Twilight Tuesday Concert Series This Summer RYE, N.Y. -- Rye Town park will host a series of seven free concerts featuring Westchester-area bands this summer. The Twilight Tuesdays concerts will be held on Tuesdays staring June 25. The concerts will be held rain or shine, except in case of thunderstorms. A couple dates have been set aside in case of thunderstorms. Rye Executive Charged With Stealing Investor Funds RYE, N.Y. -- A Rye executive was indicted in New Jersey Tuesday on charges that he stole $230,000 in investor funds for his personal use, according to New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa. Thomas Fagan, 57, of Rye was charged with misapplication of entrusted property, theft by unlawful taking, money laundering, and misconduct by a corporate official. He was also charged with three counts of failure to file personal income tax returns in New Jersey for 2007 through 2009, and with filing a fraudulent state tax return in 2010. Harrison Passes 2013-14 School Budget HARRISON, N.Y. -- Harrison voters approved the budget for the 2013-14 school year in Tuesday's election and elected Abby Mendelsohn and Rachel Estroff to the Board of Education. The budget passed with 1,385 votes in favor and 553 votes against. Incumbent Mendelsohn and newcomer Estroff were running unopposed for the two open seats on the board. Rye Passes 2013-14 School Budget RYE, N.Y. -- Rye voters approved the 2013-14 school budget in Tuesday's election and elected Katy Keohane Glassberg and Nicole Weber to the Board of Education. The budget was passed with 1,434 votes in favor and 406 against. Incumbent Glassberg received 1,305 votes and newcomer Weber received 1,037 votes. Voters Pass 2013-14 Budget For Blind Brook Schools RYE BROOK, N.Y. -- The Blind Brook School District budget for the 2013-14 school year was approved in Tuesday's election and Ryan S. Goldstein was elected to the Board of Education. The budget was passed with 555 votes in favor and 113 votes against.
