Remember To Vote Today In Port Chester PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester residents will be able to vote Tuesday on the proposed 2013-14 school budget and for members of the Board of Education. The proposed budget for the 2013-14 school year is $85,194,914, a 4.76 percent increase over last year's $81.3 million budget. The tax levy will increase 2.83 percent. Among the additions in the school budget are security guards at the elementary schools, three teachers at the middle school and a math teacher at the high school. Remember To Vote Today In Harrison HARRISON, N.Y. -- Harrison residents will have a chance to vote Tuesday on the proposed budget for the 2013-14 school year, as well as for members of the Board of Education. The proposed 2013-14 budget is $108,019,168, a 3.64 percent increase over last year's $104 million budget. If passed, the tax rate is expected to increase 3.98 percent and the tax levy will increase 3.47 percent. In order to keep the budget under the state's tax cap levy, the district was forced to cut $2.25 million from the budget in non-program spending. The proposed budget for the 2013-14 school year is $76.7 million, a 4.32 percent increase over the previous year's budget of $73.5 million. If the budget is passed, the tax levy would increase 4.65 percent and the tax rate would increase 4.59 percent. Rye's Wainwright House Hosts Spring Garden Party RYE, N.Y. -- The Wainwright House in Rye will celebrate spring with a garden party this Wednesday. The event will feature an outdoor luncheon and music by Daniele and Robbie Hager. You can also take a stroll through the meditative garden or check out the seaside labyrinth. Port Chester's Carver Center Hosts Basketball Tournament PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The Carver Center in Port Chester will host the third-annual Waine Grose Basketball Tournament Scholarship Fundraiser on Wednesday night. Grose was a resident of Port Chester and a chef who passed away in 2010 at 24. His mother, Janet, started a scholarship to keep his memory alive, and every year awards money to a Port Chester High School graduate who wants to pursue culinary arts in college.
