Leone Re-Elected To Darien's 27th Senate District STAMFORD, Conn. – Carlo Leone defeated Barry Michelson in the race to represent Stamford and Darien in the 27th Senate District in Tuesday’s election. The final numbers were not in Tuesday night, but with all of Darien and 21 of Stamford's 22 districts reporting, Leone had 16,535 votes, compared to Michelson's 10,576 votes. Democrat Leone was seeking his second term as a state senator. He was elected to the position in February 2011 in a special election. Before that he served in the Connecticut House of Representatives for eight years, including as House majority whip for his last term. …

Romney Wins Darien Nearly 2-1 DARIEN, Conn. — Mitt Romney won more votes from Darien voters than Barack Obama in Tuesday's election, according to the registrar of voters office. But Obama has won the state, according to CNN, while votes were still being tallied nationwide. Romney received 6,220 votes from Darien voters, compared with 3,182 votes for Obama. Large Crowds Turn Out To Darien Polls Tuesday DARIEN, Conn. - The line to vote was out the door Tuesday morning at Darien High School. This year's election should see a larger turnout than the 2008 presidential election if the rates keep up. As of 2 p.m. there were 6,574 votes cast, or 50.2 percent of all registered voters in Darien. Officials were urging residents to make emergency preparations and to expect additional power outages later this week.
