Hurricane Sandy May Force Darien Coastal Evacuation DARIEN, Conn. – Darien officals are warning residents that they should be prepared to evacuate if Hurricane Sandy hits town. “Coastal residents should secure their homes and vehicles,\ and be prepared to evacuate,” said First Selectman Jayme Stevenson in a phone message sent out over the town’s reverse 911 system. Darien is expecting high winds and tides four to eight feet above normal high tide. The town is anticipating widespread and long-term power outages in the wake of the storm.
